Experience relief from the stress of serious illness with the Meditation Rx app. This app offers guided meditations specifically designed to meet your needs, whether you are ill or supporting a loved one through an illness. It helps you navigate the challenges of being ill, being in a medical setting, undergoing difficult procedures, and receiving bad news.
No prior meditation experience is required to benefit from this app. It includes a Learn to Meditate section for beginners. In addition to the targeted meditations for illness and caregiving, you will also receive general meditations that can be useful in various aspects of your life.
You have the flexibility to listen to the voice guidance with or without music or nature sounds in the background. There is also an option to listen to music and nature sounds alone.
The Meditation Rx app features content created by the renowned creators of the Meditation Oasis® apps and podcast in collaboration with David Ezon, MD.
The app includes:
- A Learn to Meditate section with written materials and 3 sessions for practicing meditation skills (taken from our Learn to Meditate course app).
- Guided meditations of 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes based on our popular Simply Being app, perfect for everyday centering and relaxation.
- 14 guided meditations targeting specific stresses related to illness and caregiving:
- SOS Breathe — Helps you feel calmer and find your center using the breath after a particularly stressful or traumatic experience.
- SOS Anxiety — Aids in reducing fear, anxiety, or panic triggered by a stressful or traumatic experience.
- SOS Self Soothe — Allows you to learn self-soothing techniques and find calmness and comfort after a challenging experience.

Created by Mary Maddux, MS, HTP, and Richard Maddux, well-known for their popular Meditation Oasis® podcast, apps, and CDs. They bring over 30 years of meditation practice and teaching to their guided meditations and music. Mary has experience as a counselor and healing arts practitioner in both conventional and alternative settings, including social work in hospital, mental health, and hospice environments. Richard has dedicated his life to playing and composing music that is popular for meditation, relaxation, and healing.
